A Generation of Difference
The Washington State Oral Health Coalition (WSOHC) is a volunteer-led, statewide coalition dedicated to improving oral health and advancing health equity for all Washington residents.
WSOHC brings together healthcare professionals, community organizations, advocates, academic institutions, public health leaders, and state and local partners to support policies and initiatives that improve access to preventive oral health services and quality dental care.
Our Priorities
WSOHC focuses on:
- Strengthening statewide collaboration and member engagement
- Expanding access to preventive oral health care
- Supporting community water fluoridation
- Advocating for strong Apple Health (Medicaid) dental programs
- Supporting oral health workforce development across Washington
- Promoting evidence-based policies and community-driven solutions

Our History
WSOHC was founded in 1992 by healthcare and public health leaders, including representatives from the Washington State Department of Health and Seattle Children’s, who recognized the growing need for statewide oral health advocacy and collaboration.
Since its founding, the Coalition has played an important role in advancing oral health initiatives across Washington through advocacy, partnerships, education, and prevention efforts. WSOHC has supported community water fluoridation campaigns, helped elevate oral health policy discussions at the state level, contributed to statewide oral health planning efforts, and partnered with organizations working to improve access to care for children, adults, and underserved communities.
